Archibald "Archie" Thompson is a New Zealand-born Australian footballer of partial Papua New Guinean descent who plays for Melbourne Victory and he holds the World Record for most goals scored in an international match when he put 13 past American Samoa in a World Cup qualifier. Surprisingly he is not a regular for Australia and many consider his World Record something of a fluke as he only scored 8 goals in his other 29 appearances for the Socceroos.
