Christian Karembeu is a New Caledonian-born French former footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He was a member of their successful 1998 World Cup-winning side and therefore qualifies for the Classic France team under the name Katanyfu. The former Real Madrid and Middlesbrough anchor man is also one of the first choice players in the team and usually starts alongside either Didier Deschamps and Emmanuel Petit.
