He is one of the best dribblers in the game. He also has an unusual Master League development curve where he gets worse before he reaches his peak. He plays for the Brazil national team but isn't registered to a club since Werder Bremen aren't in the game. This makes him marginally easier to sign in the Master League.

Following the February Update, Diego was one of a select member of players to have malfunctioned during the processing of this update and as a result the game will freeze or crash if he takes a free kick. Konami did apologize and correct this error.

Not being in the Brazil 2010 World Cup roster and playing for a club not present in the game, Konami put him in the game as a PES Shop player under the fake name Deito.
