Diego Maradona is a retired Argentinian international who is found in PES 2009 in the Classic Argentina squad, under the false name of Malgani. Maradona is considered one of the greatest players that has ever played, alongside Brazilian Pele and Dutchman Cruijff. In 2000, FIFA conducted a poll to determine who was the best footballer of the 20th century, where people from all around the globe could vote through the internet in FIFA's official website. Maradona won by almost 54% of the people's votes. He is a recommended player at all costs as he has many special abilities on top of his already outstanding current stats. Unfortunately his PES counterpart doesn't bare much resemblance to him in terms of appearance as his skin is too dark and his face is a default. However the edit mode can be used to build an almost preset worthy Maradona. Maradona is small in stature but has a high dribble accuracy which makes him one of the best attacking forwards as he is very hard to get the ball off.

He's well known for both of his goals against England in the 1986 World Cup semi-finals, the first one after an unpenalized handball called The Hand of God, and the second one voted as The Goal of the Century after dribbling past six England players (Including the Goal Keeper).

Maradona is the head coach for the Argentinian National Side. In real life he started his career in Argentinian side Argentinos Juniors but is most famous for his spell at Napoli. He also played for Barcelona, Boca Juniors, Sevilla and Newell's Old Boys.

He is a good buy at master league due to his relatively young age, leaving a few years until his stats start to decline.

To make him appear in modes such as Be a Legend and Master League when starting these modes make sure that "Hidden Players" option is put to "Yes".
