Edwin van der Sar is a Dutch former goalkeeper who plays for Classic Netherlands. He is possibly one of the best keepers that Holland has ever produced. Van der Sar has won the Champions League with two different clubs. With Ajax in 1995 and with Manchester United in 2008. He is also possibly the best keeper since Peter Schmeichel for United.

He retired from the national team which means a big loss to the defence. Maarten Stekelenburg is now in goal in the Dutch national team.

[edit] PES 2009

He is widely regarded as one of the best keepers but he is old so in Master League Mode it would be better to wait for him to retire then regen as a youth and snap him up on a free transfer. He is also quite eccentric and prone to mistakes much like his real life counterpart. When it is defeat expresses a countenance so real, very near the real.

[edit] PES 2010

His stats didn't decrease but he retired from his international team. Despite being 38, he still has very good goalkeeping attributes. He has high GK skills, 90, which makes him a tricky customer to beat. He also has the skill card 1-on-1 keeper which makes him better when saving in a 1v1 situation.

Also since he's old, in Master League he'd be a recommended signing once he retires, and then comes back into the game as a youth since he will start will high goalkeeper based stats.

[edit] Real life

In real life he holds clean sheet records in the Premier League.
