Gianluigi Buffon is the first choice goalkeeper of Juventus and the Italian national team.

Even in this era, he is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has been for many years.

PES 2009

He is widely regarded as the best goalkeeper on PES 2009. Buffon's goalkeeping stats (Defence, Response, Keeper skills) are all above 97, which makes him without doubt the best goalkeeper in the game. His development curve has a long lasting peak which means he is useful for many seasons before his stats start to deteriorate. Buffon very rarely gains experience on his goal keeping stats after a game, but after a few years off-season training they can be raised to 99 each.

PES 2010

He goalkeeping stats may have decreased slightly this year but he is still the best goalkeeper in the game as he has 95 overall. His Defence is 98, Response 95 and his Keeper Skills are 98 making him a very tough goalkeeper to beat. He also has the card 1-on-1 Keeper which makes it harder for the opposition to score in 1-on-1 situations.

He also appears on the Italian version of the game's cover of PES 2008. He is one of the only players alongside Carlos Tevez to feature their head band in PES 2010.
