James Rodríguez is a Colombian midfielder who plays for Real Madrid.

He is considered to be one of the best young aspects in the world. His amazing playmaking skills has led many to consider him to be the successor of Colombian legend icon Carlos Valderrama (who has declared him as such) thus being referred as 'El Nuevo Pibe' (the 'new kid' in reference to being the successor of Carlos who was nicknamed 'El Pibe'). His dribbling, speed, ball control, and powerful shots has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo even to the point where he considered to be his 'South American' counterpart. He's also been nicknamed very often as 'El bandido'. His talents have been described as 'phenomenal' and acknowledged among many football experts as one of the most promising future talents in the world.

James is one of Colombia's most promising young aspects. Succeeding at an early age with various youth clubs, he's contributed to many club victories. Somewhat mildly with the national team as well. He was captain of the Colombian-U20 team, leading them to a victory at the 2011 Toulon Tournament where he was voted the best player. He also captained the U-20 team during the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup where his talents were recognized being a crucial part of the new Colombian golden generation. On the senior national level, he impressed contributing to crucial victories making him a regular at only 20 years of age. He scored his first senior national goal against Peru in a 1-0 victory in less than 6 months after his debut.

His prime talents emerged in 2011 where he won the LPFP Award for Breakthrough Player of 2011–12 Primeira Liga season at age 20, while becoming the first Colombian player to do so. In 2012, James was listed 59th in The 100 best footballers in the world by The Guardian. His talents at such a young age has attracted teams such as Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid.
