Javier Mascherano (pronounced mas-ke-RAH-no) is a midfielder who plays for Argentina and Liverpool. In real life, he is considered by many to be one the best holding midfielder in the Barclays Premier League alongside Michael Carrick & Michael Essien.

PES 5

Mascherano made his debut in PES 5 for Argentina and had an excellent development curve as well as a Preset Face. He also had the ability to shoot from distance which led to many spectacular goals.

PES 6

He made his first club appearance with West Ham. He had a slightly lowered development curve and was overshadowed by his team mate at the time, Carlos Tevez.

PES 2008

Regains his Preset face after a switch to Liverpool and cementing a place in the national side. He also has a slight stat tweak but a not so impressive development curve.

PES 2009

He sits back and gives the likes of Steven Gerrard the freedom to roam forward when he plays for Liverpool. Works tirelessly and always puts in the effort. At only 25 he is known to develop well in the Master League. A great asset for any leading team. Due to his fantastic first season with Liverpool in the next installment many believe he will only get better, in default stats and development curve.

PES 2010

Mascherno has been given a stat boost in this installment and he has the card Enforcer which means he is a tough combative players whose sole purpose is to keep the opposition attack in check.
