French full-back Jérémy Mathieu is often regarded by some as one of the elite players to ever grace the Pro Evolution Soccer series. He now plays for Valencia after moving from Toulouse.

PES 6

This was the first game in the series of PES where Mathieu was recognised for his immense development. He along with Ryan Babel and Park Chu-Young were some of the surprise packages in PES and were must buys in every Master League. His main skill is his versatility to play as a defensive midfielder, side midfielder and a central midfielder along with his natural position as a left-back. When fully developed, Mathieu is known best for his shooting skills rather than his defensive ones. With sublime free-kick ability, and a deadly eye for goal from range, Mathieu turns into a very accomplished goal scorer.

PES 2008

In PES 2008 his development hit a stump like most players in the series jump to next generation consoles. Mathieu was no longer considered a Master League Elite but now a fairly average left back. This disappointed many PES fans.

PES 2009

However in PES 2009, Mathieu still having lost some of his development from PES 6, he can no longer reach the uncanny highs in Master League. He is however, a better player in this version compared to the previous installment and is again a recommended buy in Master League Mode.

PES 2010

After making a switch to Spanish giants Valencia, he may get a stat increase and a Preset Face.
