Lothar Matthäus (pronounced mat-AY-us) was capped 150 times for Germany and is also one of the key players in the Classic Germany team. Matthaus was never licensed in PES although he did feature heavily in PES's predecessor ISS. He is a recommended player because of his versatility and also because of his pin-point passing accuracy and explosive shooting. His unlicensed name is Maletz as Konami don't hold the licenses to the classic teams. Along with Beckenbauer and Gerd Muller, Matthaus is one of the most important players in the Classic Germany team. In real life he was just as great and even great players such as Maradona and Pelé held him in high regard.
