NK Maribor is the powerhouse of Slovenian football. Their main man is Marcos Tavares. To date, their best player sold was Josip Iličić - to US. Palermo (Seria A).
No Slovenian teams to this date, including NK Maribor, have never been included in a PES installment despite the team qualifying and being actively involved in UEFA Champions League UEFA Europa League competitions.
 Europa League and Champions League
In the 1999–2000 season, the club, led by head coach Bojan Prašnikar, managed to defeated Genk of Belgium (5–1, 0–3) and French powerhouse Lyon (1–0, 2–0) and qualify for the 1999–2000 UEFA Champions league. Maribor were drawn into the same group with Dynamo Kiev, Bayer Leverkusen and Lazio.
In year 2011 (season 2011-2012) they managed to reach the Europa League group stages by defeating Glasgow Rangers 3:2 in the play of round. The following season (2012-2013), the team reached the group stage of the EL for the second, consecutive time. In a group with Tottenham, Lazio and Panathinaikos, Maribor snatched 4 points. In the season 2013-2014 Maribor played the group stages yet again and managed to progress to the 1/16 final of the EL, where it faced Sevilla FC.
NK Maribor also holds one European title. In 2006 Maribor won the UEFA Intertoto Cup by beating Villareal.
