Neoseeker PES Manager's League

Overview

The Neoseeker PES Manager's League or 'NPML' was a competition put forward by TVI and assisted by members Chelsea Mint Fc, Gunner4eva126], lilrob and Andy Jay1987. The competition was implemented in the PS2 Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 forum as a means of competing with the Neoseeker Super League. It was an offline competition in which members chose a team to utilize in 2 leagues against other members. Matches were played between two computer controlled teams on the consoles of one of the organisers and results were posted for the managers. Much thought, trial and error went into each manager's squad make-up and formation. To date Real Madrid manager Junior Messi is the most successful particpant in the NeoPes Manager's League after acheiving a League and Cup double in the first season.

Features

Due to the ingenuity and perseverance of the organisers, the NPML was one of the most detailed and in depth competitions conceived in Neoseeker history. One of the most impressive features used in the Competition was the idea of Development. Using Derp and TVI's Development Database a Development pattern was set up for each and every player [ie. a player may gain an increase of 1 point in every stat at the end of the season] Young players used more consistently received greater stat increases then those left on the bench. Other features included in the Competition was a Cup, running alongside the League, Transfer Windows, Fatigue, Auctions for players not belonging to a club included in the league, and International Matches even [including the African Cup of Nations midway through the season]. Another exciting facet of the NPML were the Random Occurences. ROs were occasional happenings that happened to a club chosen at random to increase the realism associated with the competition. There were negative ROs [ie. 'Training Ground Bust-up' resulting in two players being banned for 3 games] and there were positive ROs [ie. 'Galactico signing' in which any player not associated in the league could be bought for nothing, at any point in the season].

Participants

In the first season of the NPML 19 managers took part [Vidic15, arsenalno1fan, manuforlive all being replaced Pro Evo Taku, pompey fan and Carmelo15 respectively during the season]. There were two Leagues of 8 teams; League A and League B. At the end of Season 1 the participants in the NPML were:

Season 1

Controversy

During the off season following the first Season of the NPML, controversy struck. After the addition of new teams to the leagues were put forward, a member by the name of Africanfan offered to take on AS Roma. All was well and good until some odd deals were posted regarding AS Roma and Chelsea (managed by Ronal10). It seemed that Africanfan was giving away all of Roma's best players for low prices to Chelsea with little regard for his own team. It was soon established that Africanfan was in fact an alternate account used by Ronal10 in the hope of improving his own Chelsea team. He was expelled from the NPML and banned from the forum for a period of 1 month. A member who applied to join the NPML by name of Friedrich was also found to be one of Ronal10's alternate accounts, but was refused due to lack of activity

Cup winner for League B was Real Madrid [completing a League + Cup double]. Cup Winner for League A was Newcastle.

Season 2

For season 2 there are 4 new teams being added to the NPML. These will be AS Roma (managed by emoboiross), Lyon (Goonjimbo), Villarreal (McmananamanBanana), Inter Milan (True Nerazurri). There has been a significant hold-up in proceedings for Season 2 due to the decrease in activity of the Godfather of the competition, TVI.
