Version 1.30 or the The February Update (or patch) changed the rosters in PES 2009 to keep them up to date with the transfers and loans that went through during the January transfer window. Players such as Danny Alves, Tomas Zapotocny, James Beattie, Keith Andrews and Walter Lopez were added to their respective clubs with Zapotocny and Beattie getting preset faces. It was released on the 17th February 2009. Many players had their Master League development curves improved which saw many players' peaks hitting the mid 90s such as Yoann Gourcuff.

Criticism

However players such as Lilian Thuram, Marcelo Salas and Willy Sagnol were still present in their national squads despite retiring from football. Also Dario Cvitanich is Argentine instead of Croatian and Mounir El Hamdaoui is Dutch instead of Moroccan.

It was also spotted that Eidur Gudjohnsen had once again been deleted off Barcelona's team sheet for no reason along with Calum Davenport who should have been registered at Sunderland following a loan move from West Ham. Szabolcs Huszti should be in the Zenit squad.

Ricardo Quaresma has been given the number 7 shirt when he is number 18 on Chelsea's books.

Angelos Basinas was not registered at Portsmouth due to the sheer squad size which was the same problem with Davenport and Tal Ben-Haim for Sunderland.

Assulin should be registered at Barcelona. On the other hand some players are in the game when they should be out on loan to teams not in the game such as Michael Chopra, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Vincent Pericard, Craig Beattie and Tony Kane.
