The Portugal National Team (pronounced PORCH-a-gawl) are one of the newly licensed teams in PES2008. They play in a home strip of maroon and green, and an away strip of white.
Portugal, although having lost stars such as Figo, F. Couto and Rui Costa recently to retirement, still boast a very impressive team. Quality can be found throughout the team; in defense with the likes of Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira; in midfield with Maniche, Miguel Veloso and Joao Moutinho and in attack with Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Quaresma. Many gamers bemoan the team's lack of a world class striker, having to rely on Nuno Gomes, Hugo Almeida or Helder Postiga to spearhead their attack.
In real life the Brazilian Pepe is on the Portugese squad, but this cannot be achieved in PES, due to the inability to change a player's nationality.
In the Portugal side there are two players which can perform certain tricks, Cristiano Ronaldo can do the heel kick and Ricardo Quaresma can do the Rabona.
