Stephan El Shaarawi is the youngest player in PES 2009 (as his age starts at 15) after the Version 1.40 update is installed. He starts the game at a mere 15 years old in the Genoa squad and peaks at 90 in the Master League Mode. Despite his father being Egyptian he has chosen to represent Italy at youth level and therefore has Italian nationality in PES. He is a recommended signing especially at the beginning when Genoa aren't completely aware of his huge potential.
