Sunderland have average players but one or two stars these include former Manchester United winger Kieran Richardson and powerful striker Kenwyne Jones. The summer signings that Sunderland have made should turn them into mid table club rather than relegation survivors these signings include former Marseille player Lorik Cana and Tottenham Hotspur trio, Teemu Tainio, Darren Bent and Steed Malbranque, but Pascal Chimbonda later returned to Tottenham after the February Update to keep his hopes of playing in Europe once more. They have good attacking hopes with the likes of Kenwyne Jones and Darren Bent.

They have a good squad, enough for a mid-table finish, with fast and young strikers like Connor Wickham and Fraizer Campbell, a fast midfield being a good tactic using wingers, and a solid defence, that can hold their own.
