Vermaelen has been a key player for Ajax in the past few years as well as being the club captain and more recently he has been a member of the Belgium national team.

After the November Update in PES 2010, he then received a preset face that everyone was hoping for. He also got a statboost including a big rating jump from 75 to 85 in Defence. He is an accomplished defender and time is on his side in the Master League.

Vermaelen appears as the team's first choice defender alongside William Gallas whom needs to be registered to local rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Vermaelen is by default Arsenal's best defender with an overall rating of 85 and is definately a recommended signing in Master League.
